New Year's Goals: 2019

maplemoodSkipping Fandom Snowflake today in order to put up a short (and very late) list of goals for this year, but first I've got to say: We have snow! The weather forecast was calling for at least a couple of inches to fall over the weekend, but I kept my expectations low because we've had no snow up until now and it hasn't even been especially cold. But yesterday was BITTERLY cold, and today was just as cold; the snow started falling this evening and was still coming down steadily last I checked. It might end up making getting to school on Monday a pain, but for now I'm just glad to get some really wintery weather.
Okay, on to the goals. They aren't all too different from my goals from last year; since those were at least semi-attainable I don't think that's a bad thing.
1.) Stay organized with school, stay on track, and keep up a regular study schedule.
2.) Read regularly.
3.) Write more! Try not to stress about comments and kudos.
4.) This one is conditional on my actually getting and sticking with and original story idea, but: Write, or try to write, more original fiction.
5.) Make sure you really have the time/energy/inspiration to follow through with a fic exchange before signing up.
I'm not and never have been great at New Year's Resolutions, but sticking with what I've already been able keep up doing (for the most part) worked fine last year. 1.), 4.), and 5.) are new goals; I have a couple more specific goals for school, but they all basically boil down to getting more organized and disciplined. Original stories are tricky for me--there's so much anxiety associated with them that doesn't bother me as much when I'm working on fic, and so I really need to feel like an idea's worth it before going any further with it--but assuming I get an idea I'd like to give writing them another shot. 5.) is because I had to default on a few exchanges this year, which made me feel awful, but apparently didn't stop me from signing up for others when I really didn't have the time for them. I do love participating in exchanges, but I need to be more realistic about my ability to get things finished on time.
