  • One of my big plans for the summer is to study and prep for Praxis I (the first round of tests that I need to pass in order to be officially accepted into my school's teacher education program). This means, most likely, buying a couple study manuals, taking a couple practice tests, and stressing like nobody's business. I've taken the PSAT, the SAT, and the GED, plus tons of exams in college, so it's not like this is unfamiliar territory. That still doesn't help my testing anxiety. Oh well. The only way out is through.
  • My sister bought Logan on DVD a few days ago. Last night we finally sat down to watch it. I have to admit that I zoned out a bit (it was my third time seeing it and I'm still not completely emotionally recovered from the first two times, so), especially towards the end, but this is still such an amazingly good movie. It was also fun picking up on even more ways that it parallels or contradicts themes from Shane ("I don't like guns." and "There aren't any more guns in the valley."; "You're going to have to learn to live with it." vs. "There's no living with it, the killing.").
  • I'm honestly not too sure about my plans for this weekend. Obviously I'll try to get some writing done. I've also got a Carl Hiaasen book I need to finish reading, and a bedroom I should probably clean. That's about it. I'm not sure yet if I'm bored or happy to get the chance to do basically nothing. Doing basically nothing gets old pretty fast, especially during summer break, and I haven't been able to find a steady summer job, which just makes it worse.
That's about it for me. Anyone else got more exciting weekend plans?

Or the "Lisa Castle meets Laura Kinney and they work through their issues together" AU of my heart. This is the first fic in what I hope will turn into a series; it ended up being quite a bit longer than I'd originally thought. Still had a ball working on it.

Title: We're All That They've Got
Fandom: Daredevil, Logan
Rating: Teen & Up
Relationships: Lisa Castle & Laura Kinney, Lisa Castle & Frank Castle, Laura Kinney & Logan, Lisa Castle & Logan, Laura Kinney & Frank Castle
Summary: He’d told Lisa he was helping out a man and a little girl on the run from bad people, so she wasn’t surprised. Maybe she wished he’d told her a few more things, like how close these bad people were, or that the little girl couldn’t (wouldn’t) speak English. Or that she could pop a knife out of her knuckle as easily as Lisa cracked hers.

Might or might not turn this into a monthly thing. I've read SO MUCH good stuff recently and figured it was time to share. It's mostly gen this time around. Also mostly Marvel.

Tough Girl is What I Had to Be by angel_deux: (Daredevil) Set some time after season 2. I'm a sucker for Lisa Castle Lives AUs, and this is one of my absolute favorites. Lots of emotion and heartwarming father-daughter scenes. Plus, it ships Frank and Karen. What more could you want?

Kings Among Runaways by Viva Rocksteady: (Jessica Jones, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) The Jessica Jones/Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt crossover you never knew you needed. Jessica is hard-edged and cynical, Kimmy is as adorable as they come, and their friendship comes off as surprisingly believable.

it's the skin and bones that keep me on the road by impossibleamypond: (Star Wars) A missing scene between Rey and Han. Incredibly well-written and bittersweet.

our lives umbilical by duchamp: (Logan) Set after the movie, and most definitely not an Everybody Lives AU. Laura moves on, but she never quite gets over Logan and what they could have had. Beautifully written. Also very, very sad.
