I've started! Just finished ch 1—I'd forgotten how much I like Mary's voice, but it really is so good, and such a strong voice. It was great to read that first meeting again—Mary almost stepping on him, and her analysis of his bee-gazing and his reactions, and of course: "Young man?" And her feminism, and her reaction to Holmes' recitation of her background, and her appreciation of the food— ironically, or perhaps fittingly, I had indeed completely forgotten her aunt.
Oh so that's what the butler was doing! I'd totally forgotten—I think I thought he'd actually murdered someone, presumably just off the idea that "the butler did it."
