Another Favorite

I finished the third season of Banshee today and Kurt Bunker is another character who seems like he was designed to appeal to me specifically. (sholio , I'm pretty sure this was the guy you were talking about!) In this show, nobody gets away with not having a Dark and Tragic Backstory, and his is probably one of the most intense, but (for me, anyway) it's incredibly compelling--his "I am guys like that" speech to Brock was fantastic--especially since he's trying so hard to overcome his past.

Oh yay, you like Kurt! Yes. XD He's not my only favorite character on that show - I really love a lot of them - but he certainly was guaranteed to push my buttons hard. And I think the show does a good job making him very sympathetic while not excusing his backstory; starting his arc on the show after his redemption arc has already happened was a good move, I think, because that way it's focused on his efforts to atone and not the process that got him here.

I had a lot more Banshee gifs queued up at one point than I ended up posting, because no one but me among my mutuals was particularly into it, and especially since probably half of what I had queued was Kurt, and ... the tattoos are kind of ... a lot, out of context. But he's such a great character!

I think the decision to start after his redemption arc instead of before or during it really worked, too--partly because to do a redemption arc like that right you'd probably need an entire separate TV show, and this way he gets a super-compelling story of his own without overwhelming the main one.

Oh, yep, Kurt's definitely one favorite among many. :D I'm on the last season now and actually feeling sad about finishing, even though I binged through it in, like, a week. At this point I'm attached to almost everybody, even a lot of the more villainous characters, and I don't want to let any of them go.

(And yeah...I've kind of had the same worry about reblogging Kurt stuff, because if you're not familiar with the show [and not a whole ton of people are] it can come across as something completely different.)
