Finals: Over

And gosh, I don't think I realized how much I was running on fumes until Thursday, which was when I had my last exam and also when I would have gladly fallen asleep and not woken up until...today? Tomorrow? I ended up having a good bit of stuff to do on Friday, most of which was fun or at least easy but left me even more tired, and so today I've done basically nothing except sleep and catch up on some TV (Westworld, which I've wanted to watch since it first came out and haven't got around to until now; almost done with season 1 and I adore Maeve). Also read a bit, but not much. I'm excited to have the free time to be reading for fun again, and I've got a couple books I'm hoping to finish over the summer, and hopefully at least one or two in the next few weeks, before my summer class starts. I'm this close to being done with my reread of Pride and Prejudice--started it before the semester really went haywire with conferences and stuff, and now I think I finally have the brainspace to finish--so we'll see. 

Also! hurtcomfortex ! I have my actual assignment and a pinch hit to finish start writing; I meant to get them both started a good bit before the deadline and did try, but pretty much everything I worked on during finals week and the week before finals week is off the table, because even though those stories did help keep me sane, they're too...sort of wrapped up in the stress of the whole thing for me to be able to finish them. And not super well plotted, even by my standards of being a terrible plotter, since, again, I was writing more to give myself a break from final papers than because I had an actual through-line in mind. But it's okay. Now I do have some time to actually sit down and work things out, and I'm pretty excited. I've got two sets of fantastic prompts. :)

Also!! My sisters are planning on seeing Endgame tomorrow and I most likely won't come. My interest in Marvel is at an all-time low right now, and I'm not sure why because I liked Infinity War and really love certain corners of the MCU (GOTG and Spider Man, mostly). I just...don't care about seeing this movie specifically? Maybe because it's been hyped so much and at this point I know all the spoilers, or maybe because I'm kind of tired of Marvel in general? I had the same feeling about Star Wars for a good long while and I'm starting to bounce back from that, so I don't think it's a permanent thing but it's weird. It's not even that I don't like what I've heard about the movie and the spoilers. It's just that I couldn't care less about actually watching it right now.

And sometimes you can be like that about things, and fair enough if you want to wait. The cinema's expensive if you're not feeling it!

Thank you! And yep, I probably will want to see it eventually, but for now I'd rather not spend the money on something I don't really want to see.

I've got only three more episodes of the first season to go, and then it's on to season 2! I'm really loving it so far.

Congrats on finishing finals!!!! I have about four more days until I finish my very last finals as an undergrad, which is both a relief and completely terrifying. Have fun reading and writing and such now that some of the pressure's off!

Also I hear you on Marvel. I saw Endgame, but I think for the time being I'm done with the franchise. :/ Unless they do something really remarkable, my interest has kind of waned outside of like Black Panther and Captain Marvel. *shrug*

Thank you! And yeah...I've always been pretty selectively interested in Marvel, but at this point I just feel sort of burned out. I don't think it'll last forever, but for now I'm happy to listen to other people's thoughts on the movie and not watch it myself.

I'm feeling similarly relieved after finally turning in all of my May the 4th exchange assignments AND organizing/hosting an all-day event at the library on Saturday. I didn't realize until it was too late how much stress those 2 events co-inciding were going to cause, and it wasn't pretty. Never again!

p.s. Maaaaaeve! I love her so much, and she gets some very cool moments in season 2.

For some reason, I did NOT put two and two together with having finals + an exchange deadline around the same time and how stressful that would be. But I'm glad I signed up for the exchange anyway; it's such a fun concept and I have a bunch of fantastic prompts to work from.

Regarding the MCU, sometimes you just need a break from a franchise. I know after IX comes out, I'll be taking a break from SW content.

Thanks! And yeah, I think my feelings have less to do with the movie itself than the fact that Marvel has been EVERYWHERE for years and years and years at this point; I just need a break.

I'm with you on the MCU, too. I'm just kind of ...tired? of it. I might watch it when it hits Netflix, but I still haven't brought myself to finish Infinity War and I've heard all the spoilers so at this point I just kind of want time to forget them. (Also yay GOTG. :D)

Didn't it? I mean, with exchanges, I'm almost always working down to the deadline or needing an extension, because I'm a poor planner like that, but still! I'll be cheering for you, too--here's to us both writing (and receiving!) some good fics. :)

Yeah...it's just too much, at this point. I never really worked up any huge fandom feelings for the entire MCU, anyway--GOTG is one of the big fandoms of my heart (Vol. 2, especially), and I really liked Spider Man and Black Panther, but otherwise I've always been a little bit on the sidelines with it.
