Day 6

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.

Oh boy. I think this was one of the days I skipped last year--granted, I skipped a lot of days last year--because I've always felt so awkward just straight up asking for things. But this is a challenge, so:

1.) My fandom stocking is up here. Fandoms are Stranger Things, Penny Dreadful, Star Wars, and The Punisher, and I'd also love book recs!

2.) On that note, anybody who's watched Penny Dreadful (or any of these shows, really) and wants to gush about it is welcome to hit me up any time--I absolutely adore this show and it has a pretty small fandom. (And if you happen to like over-the-top Gothic horror with a strong found family element and haven't watched Penny Dreadful yet, I'd really recommend it!)

3.) Again: Book recs! Especially for books (middle grade, young adult, or adult) with a strong found family and/or loyalty element to them. I have an especially soft spot for middle grade and young adult fantasy--bonus points if it's creepy or weirdly charming (or both!). Realistic and historical fiction are great too, and I love a good romance.

Re: #3, have you read The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley? Abused young girl ends up with a new guardian during WWII, and she and her brother and said guardian slowly learn to trust each other and love each other.

Penny Dreadful was on my to-watch list and then I forgot about it. (So many things to watch.)

I recently read "Beyond the Bright Sea" by Lauren Wolk -a beautiful YA story about found family and a young girl trying to figure out who she is - and I think you might enjoy it!

Well, okay, I keep repeating myself but this is a masterpiece and I'd gladly go on a crusade for it.
It's creepy and weirdly charming and there's plenty of loyalty and (loss of) family. I think it's more of a middle-grade fantasy than young adult but the uderlying sociology and psychology - at least imo - is more suited for adults.
Also, lots of sarcasm. And magic.
